    Help! - no headlights - 2008 Puma

    Hi all,

I am hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Driving home tonight & suddenly no head lights!

Parking lights are on but no low beam.

if I "flick" the high beam, high beam works, but if I switch to high beam, I have nothing but "parkers"

I have checked all the Lighting fuses under the dash and they are all OK.

Please dont tell me that the switch is a known failure point !!!

    any Ideas?

I don fancy driving to work tomorrow morning with out lights !

I have a 2008 130, I have changed out the headlight switch twice and now the high/ low beam switch is playing up, but still working just!
Unfortunately there is no real meat in the insulator plate between the contacts, any dirt/dust between the bridging plate and the contacts creates heat and simply melts the insulator plate.
sorry, but need to buy a replacement and a spare!

After replacing the switch fit a relay to prevent it happening again.

    NO HEADLIGHTS

Hi I'm not sure if the Puma is the same as the td5 lighting/wireing , I know there there are also fuses under the drivers seat .check your hand book fuse section . If it is your light switch, Britpart switches Ebay you can also look at Ebay uk'.. Land Rover Defender, will get youwhat you want ,thats if you can wait good luck ..

Yes with all the improvements in the Puma I think they haven't upgraded the headlight switch. I did 2 before finally putting in relays in my Td5.

Basically they run too many amps through the switch and it burns out.

I think it is Land Rover's way of paying tribute to our Lucas heritage !

A new switch will fix it for now ( fairly simple plug in job ) then get relays ASAP !
