    Salisbury hubs dilemma

I have just got around to replacing the broken rear axle housing in my TD5 Defender.Managed to obtain an earlier housing complete with the diff[thanks Wally],so thought the job would be relatively easy.First hurdle was to obtain the mounts for the calipers FTC3306,on the TD5 they are part of the housing.
Also the stub axles will not fit due to a shoulder on the TD5 that does not fit inside the older housing.Looks like the older stub axle is part FTC1740 and the later one FTC3188.As my hubs have new bearings and discs fitted,I am hoping for a stub axle that will allow them to fitted to the older housing.....do such stub axles exist?
Or do I bite the bullet and get the later Salisbury housing?

My guess is you just need new sals stubs......the hubs should fit. The only other factor is if there is any difference in the hubs between the rover and sals ie the off set of the disc

the ftc1740 (Early disc brake defender) and ftc3188 (later def, disco 1 and softdash rrc) stubs are the same in all the important bits, i.e. the hub bearing spacing etc is the same . don't forget the discs are different from early to late defender. the td5 model from XA vin use different disc rotors. unfortunately the discs you have will not be compatible with the early type of brake caliper mounting bracketry and stub spacing, as shown in one of your pics. .

Thanks JC,yes the TD5 is vin XA,so I guess I need FTC3846 rotors with FTC 1740 stub axles and these will suit the TD5 hubs?
