    Perentie 255/85's

Anyone put 255/85's on a Perentie Yet?

The Olympic steel treks are looking pretty tired. One major hurdle could be the under car tyre carrier - i currently have a 235/85 sitting in there and it's pretty tight - has anyone managed anything bigger on the standard carrier?

Obviously i will need to change the rims for more negative offset (well i think i will) but i don't want to lose the underslung spare. (i like it there!)

If it's all too hard 235/85's will be going on, i just keep reading here that the 255's are the ducks nuts.

I've attached a photo for anyone who's interested - and for those with a keeen eye -yes it has alpine windows, i believe it must have been in a roll over - not sure how else they would have got there. Still on the hunt for a cheap tropical roof.

    Cheers,

    Matt

I find the gearing on mine with 7.50 16's is a bit on the tall side already. With a set of RFSV transfer gears, it would be perfect with 255/85/16's.

Would the 255 fit underneath if it was flat or almost flat (0-15psi)?
If so buy a good compressor

What's the RFSV transfer ratio? I was under the impression the army 110 fleet, including 6x6s, had the same gearbox/transfer ratios, just the 6x6s had 4.7:1 diffs whilst the 4x4s had 3.54:1 ratio diffs.

Ah , I didn't realise the Perentie 4x4's had longer legs than the County in high range. I'm definitely leaning toward 235/85's now so as not to disrupt gearing and they should fit on the perentie standard rims. Cheaper and easier tyre to get as well.

Now to research which turbo to get and how to go about it....

    Cheers,

    Matt

Perentie 4x4s don't have longer legs than a County in high range. They are pretty much mechanically the same all the way through, particularly those of us who upgraded our Counties to TRBs
That's why I enquired about the RFSV ratio, pretty sure the LT95 in them is the same as every other LT95 factory fitted behind an Isuzu donk.

Plenty of turbo chatter in the Isuzu Landy Enthusiasts section

255/85 won't fit btw perentie custom rear chassis rails. Well that was one reason I bought 235/85s when I was buying new tyres.

The RFSV ratio is 1.113 vs 0.996 for all the others.

RFSV and Snr Command both had the 1.113 ratio gears if my memory serves me correctly.

DISREGARD that statement above please. I have just checked my RPS for the Snr Command and it is definitely 0.996. I was sure there was another variant with the 1.113 gearing.
