Another Rim and Tyre Question

I noticed that the sidewalls on my tyres seemed to be bulging disturbingly. No worries, I thought - no doubt just a bit low on pressure. A visit to the servo later (I used my own good tyre gauge) and the pressures are 40psi front, 45psi rear - and the sidewall bulge is still there. (It's always bulged a bit and I'm not sure whether its actually worse now or I am just noticing it more).

Ok so here are the stats:
Rims: LR steel rims: 5,50F x 16 x 33
Tyres: Kumho Venture AT LT 235/85 R16

Is this the right match? I would have thought so. Any suggestions ?
Also perhaps someone can shed some light on these for me:
The tyre is also stamped 120/116 Q ?

The rim also has the following stampings:
FV2000727
NRC7578
93401
> 1241 (The > is actually some sort of triangley symbol ?)

So what the heck do all these mean, coz I'm more confused than ever.

There was another thread somewhere about use of 130 rims on a 110 and the alleged pro's and con's of this arrangement. Can someone point me there or give me a rundown of these again ?

Check with Kumho if the tyres you have are suitable for 5.5 rims. Some manufacturers my 'recommend' rims 6-7.5 for 235s.
For example I have an old (2yo) BFG AT spec and the rim width for 235s is between 6 to 7.5 inches...
Looking at Kumho's website the 'standard' rim for 235s is 6.5inch.
might be that yours are a bit narrow... :?

Can anyone tell me are 130 rims wider ?

Where could I get steel wider steel rims for my 'fender ?
I am wanting to run BFG AT's or MT's in future - probably 235/85 x 16's as well.

I think the 130 rims are 6in wide.

I run white eight spokes that are 16x7 and go well with 235/85r16's

Mate from memory 235's on 5.5 inch wheels are too narrow, you need to search the Tyre and Rim Association manual of Australia or contact a tyre shop. - They will have a copy.

Mate the ramifications of this fitment is that, god forbid you have an accident your insurer may not cover you as your tyres do not comply with the Australian Standard.....

When you say bulge its a bulge like they are pulled in to tight at the bead isnt it, cos if its a bulge up and down (from bead to tread) it could be an impact fracture.....

130 rims are 6.5 inch
Disco Steel rims are 7 inch and very nice on a Series :wink:

both suitable for 235 tyres

The 130 rims are 6.5 inch as previously mentioned. They are also very hard to come-by 2nd hand. They are a much heavier rim the to 110 and the disco.

IMHO you should also consider aftermarket steelies.
The ones I run my JT2's on are 15x7's but they cone in many sizes. Mine cost around $150 ea and you can pay nearly that for second hand 130 rims.

Forgot to mention, the standard OE's on the newer fenders are 235/85's and they are on 16x7 alloys. I think this is a fair indication as to what a good rim size is/should be.

I'll keep watching this with interest, as I save up for some new rims/
I definitely want steel rims, prob 16x7, what brands do people have or can they recommend... and what would they cost.... :?:
