Surprised that you did not include a tow bar... they also double up as a good rear recovery point.

						Hi...
i've had a Disco 1. .. which was awesome... Disco 2, which was better kitted out but not as good offroad unfortunately, both suffering engine and clutch issues... costly enough to move them on.
I have waited a few years and saved up for a new Rig.
A brand new Defender 110.
I take delivery next week.
Found a beauty, Defender 110, Orkney Grey with a black roof, sawtooth MTR package, sunhatch.
Part of the wheeling and dealing with the finance company, managed to finance $5000 worth of upgrades.
Just making sure i've made the right decision by asking AULRO knowhows. ...
ive ordered an ARB Bullbar, a Tradesman 3/4 roof rack, a Magnum 9000lb winch, and Koni 2" lift kit.
I still have the option of adjusting the options.
Would anyone do anything different with $5000 of mods?
I intend to keep this Defender for at least 10 years, and will take it offroad, and try keep up with my mates 90.
Surprised that you did not include a tow bar... they also double up as a good rear recovery point.

So how long was the wait for it to get build?
Would also be interested in the cost of the bullbar?
Regards
Be aware that you need to fit a Double Cardon front prop shaft with a two inch lift on a current model Defender - the Uni at the transfer case is likely to bind otherwise causing vibration and/or transfer case damage.
It's also worth being aware that LR are very agresdive in avoiding warranty claims where modifications have been done - do a bit of a search so you know what you're up against.
Hope this helps.

I personally would forget about a lift for now. (Likely warranty issues as mentioned, plus you have a very capable vehicle already). If you really really want one after 3 years/100,000km of driving, knock your socks off
Just my own opinion here... but I am also collecting a new 110 in a couple of months, and I also have a budget for aftermarket toys at the moment...
I am putting on a snorkel, with Nugget's sealing kit, a tow bar (more as recovery point with towing ability), and a rear wheel carrier (essential IMO if you want to prevent damage to the rear hinges).
Oh, I am also putting on some steel wheels and muddies for play, because I get a very good price on some locally, and that will match my intended use for the near future.
I may look at having a mate make me up some recovery points for the front (negligible cost).
When finances permit, I am planning on investing in a custom front bar to accommodate a winch and recovery points, a bit later down the track.
My list comes in under $5k... for now...
I share your excitement,
Cheers,
Nige

I would agree with Noyakfat about lifting your vehicle. No need IMO, they are very capable without it and you will have a lot less issues.
"Poser" is an expression that springs to mind when I see a lifted vehicle (especially a 110)

What is this nugget sealing kit everyone speaks of?
Are the stock standard base model rims/tyres no good?
Agree with the comments about lift, although I'm lifting my 130, the 110s don't have the same issues with ramp-over angle and rear overhang, an extremely capable vehicle in standard form. One thing these vehicles lack is storage, I would perhaps be looking at storage options such as the mud glovebox unit (just fitted mine today, very tidy unit), perhaps an overhead console, maybe drawers in the rear if that suits your need. Sound deadening / heat insulation for the floor would also be on my list.
In the unlikely event you find you want to lift the vehicle sometime down the track (so to speak) you're best to wait out the warranty period.

Sorry forgot to mention... tow ball is part of the deal... reason for not mentioning it is that i believe every landrover should have one as a stock feature.
the 2" lift isn't necessary.
what is necessary is that is part of my finance deal, i talked them into 5K of mods.
I chose Ritter as my finance option, and 5K went their way. I can spend it on what ever is required............ Sorry for sounding like i'm bragging...... :-)
If you had 5K to spend on a new 110 what would you do?
I proposed, ARB bar, Munro Winch, Roof rack and a lift.... .
....
In my opinion all very solid options for upgrades! MTR's, lift, Bullbar and winch will take you places, but in my very recent experience I'd advise you to get a snorkel. Probably an ARB one like a Safari and to get a nugget air box.
the very last thing you ever want is that feeling in the pit of your stomach that your pride and money-pit is now a lump of scrap courtesy some water. I came much too close to this happening recently when I stalled in about 4 1/2 feet of water, got recovered, opened the air filter and the thing had 2 inches of water in it!
Pulled the turbo: full of water
Pulled the intercooler: full of water
pulled the intake manifold: full of water
pulled the glow plugs: turned without compression and tiny bit of vapour escapes and then its all good.
I put it back together and it starts and drives fine so Im the luckiest guy in history. Had a snorkel fitted but it's integrity was compromised by mud in the drain valves and a perished hose.
whatever you do, get a snorkel and make it a good one.
Edit: sorry this is Wicks89 on my brothers profile
