did you just join the forum to **** can your landrover??
wonder how many people bought a jeep,
then wish they bought a landrover
" I should have brought a Jeep" but stupidly I bought a Land Rover Freelander 2 and oh what a mistake I made. It is a 2009 SE i6 and has only travelled 85k but have a look at the problems I have encounted.
- replaced spindle in rear diff @ 30k
- replaced fuel pump @ 60k
- replaced alternator @ 80k
- replaced hydraulic pump to power steering @ 82k
- replaced rack & pinion steering @ 85k
On each of these occasions I sought assistance from Land Rover Australia but they simply were not interested in even discussing these problems - their after sales service has been atrocious to the point there is none.
In addition to the above problems I had Land Rover fit a tow bar so I could tow a light weight caravan, well this lead to one problem after another. Final price was over $3k and I should have purchased a better tow bar from Hayman Reece for less than $2k, so I have paid a premium to have Land Rover written on the tow bar. It was not only the cost but the size of the trailer ball mount which is 40mm compared to the standard Australian size of 50mm so I have been unable to purchase a trailer ball mount with a longer shank (required as LR set-up for the Freelander has the tow ball too close to the car).
All in all this car is absolutely junk and no improvement on those earlier Land Rover's that were plagued with problems.
I would urge anyone contemplating the purchase of a Land Rover to look elsewhere, there are much better cars at lower prices.

With regards to the tow bar maybe you should have looked into it first as I did. Purchased a two bar from speedy as I wanted a longer shank & the 50mm. Much less than the LR & no issues... Regardless of the brand always do your research
The FL2 is a completely different car than the FL1 and has proven to be far more reliable than the earlier version. I know plenty of happy owners of them - I also know plenty of unhappy Jeep owners - believe me.
Everyone runs the risk af getting a bad example - and unfortunately you may have got on of those. I can see why you wouldn't want to buy another if that's your experience, but to bag them out on a Land Rover forum as your first (and maybe only?) post is just a bit silly IMO.
I hope your new Jeep gives you the service you are looking for and I hope you have the diposable income to keep pouring in the unlimited quantity of fuel they seem to use.
But I expect this is just a fishing experdition on your part to get a rise from us LR owners, and you'll probably go and buy a Toyota instead like all the other sheep. Baaa....

lol i dont see why you are here complaining? your issues are not landrover as such, but your freelander, which yes is landrover, but what you are experiencing does not mean they are all like that. you will also pay premiums to have any brand written on any factory item! ive owned several 4wds and find my landrover to be the easiest and cheapest one to maintain. my sister has also owned 2 freelanders, and a jeep. she went to jeep after first freelander, then sold it and returned to freelander! her jeep was a very good vehicle it must be said. was the 5cyl diesel one. excellent on fuel. she just prefers her freelander td4. and apart from a sticking waste gate on the turbo, it has had no issues what so ever. the previous petrol one she owned had none either. you will also be hard pressed to find what landrovers offer at the prices they do. but if you dont like them we dont care. go enjoy your life, and drive what ever you please. i for one love my landrover. and am very happy with it. (disco 2 td5) and i know a hell of a lot of people who are also happy with their landrovers. your dislike doesnt affect any of us in the slightest. i do think you are in for a rude awakening however as jeep are not cheap on bits n bobs either, nor are any car makes for that matter. from having jeep/toyota/nissan/holden/ford all in the family at some point, i find my landrover the cheapest on parts compared to those, you justh ave to look in the right places. ive also had more catastrophic stuff go wrong with the others LOL! well the sisters jeep didnt have anything major go wrong and neither have our landrovers, past or current!
Cool story bro.
Onto the next thread...
Heres one guys take on his Jeep Destroy My Jeep
not withstanding , I'd still buy a Jeep before a FL
I wish you had bought a Jeep.
If you had, then instead of coming here to let off steam, you could have gone to a Jeep forum to let off steam about the problems you had with your Jeep.
I guess you would have made the same assumption with your Jeep; that if you had problems with your Jeep, then all Jeeps are rubbish.

Welcome to Land Rover land. People being people will defend their heaps of **** to the hilt.
Truth is, my friend, LRs are enormously troublesome, expensive and a general pain in the arse, but I love em and I don't have an ego problem either, unlike some on here.
Anyone who tells you their LR is not of the above is either; a politician or someone who didn't smack their kids.
I like Jeeps too.
