Anderson plug fitting for accessories

Hi all,

As I have a portable compressor (not fitted to vehicle), and I am SO sick of removing the seat base etc etc every time I air up after going off road....

I decided to have an Anderson plug fitted to accommodate my laziness I got an auto elec to do the install and swap the alligator clips for a plug.

Now I have easy access, and it's sufficiently tucked away that Mrs Noyakfat should avoid caning her lower legs on the housing

A lot of people including myself use the Anderson plugs, but that is an amazingly tidy install!

Mine sort of just pokes out under the LHS trim near the back safari door. I must investigate that vertical mount and cover as I can't recall ever seeing one like that in any of the suppliers I go to.

Check with Battery World in Joondalup Lou, they sell tonnes of stuff like that off the shelf.

I had an Anderson plug installed inside the drivers seatbox.

The idea being I'll be mounting a 12V compressor in there with lines I can just plug the hose into... still to figure that part out....

I ran the wires through to the towbar and fitted the plug there. It's handy as I haven't installed the compressor in a fixed position and the airline will now go as far as the van wheels.

I did the same with mine, but under the passenger seat next to the battery.
Can't get photos for another 3 weeks sorry, but I just ran an air-line from the compressor to the front of the seat box where I drilled through and installed a regular air compressor pipe connector. Switch on the dash and instant air. No need to remove the seat.

Can I ask which compressor you used? I'm looking at a similar set up myself.

AndyT - doesn't matter. Unless your time is that valuable you can't afford an extra few minutes to air up.

I have a bushranger. It's fine.

If you have the $ to spare burn I gather the new ARB twin compressors are very good, but as I say.... $$$

Very true! I was wondering if size was an issue as there's not too much space in there but there are probably quite a few that would fit.

Yep. Plenty of space in there for most portable / 4WD compressors. Especially by the time you hard mount them and don't have to consider the volume of the carry bag etc.

Keep in mind thought that you will need an air hose long enough to reach any wheels you wish to inflate, and somewhere to keep said air hose.
