    Plastic flare rivets

Does anyone know of a better option for these / source of supply?

EVERY time I remove my flares, I lose a pin as it shoots into the wheel arch lining and off into the muddy abyss under there... sooner or later I'll not have enough to reattach the flare.

    Any tips out there?

If you want to make them replaceable is it practical to use nutserts and screws?

The problem with this is the clips are used to "join" or "mate" two thin plastic surfaces together. Nutserts aren't really made for that and you'd end up with the nutsert spinning in the thin plastic. Also under the guards is where all the water and mud ends up so the threads would soon be seizing up.

I'm following this closely too as I just had my first experience with the clips under the guards when trying to remove my Safari snorkel and internal ducting from there to the airfilter box. I strongly suspect I may need some of those replacement clips soon enough!

Might be an opportunity for a group buy ex Ali Baba or eastbay...
I don't suspect they are an expensive or an incredibly exotic part, but as it stands, I'm running on about 8 on the RHS flare, out of about 12.

I'll get some measurements of the standard items when I can and might dig further into it.

Riv nuts may work, but as someone said, it's a rather tough environment under there. You'd need a M6 at least (just guestimating the size, as you'd need to work off the nutsert tube OD), and stainless would be the go, but you can get capillary action of water up the threads, and S/S galls like anything. May be an option for a semi-permanent installation!

The clips aren't expensive are they? Try EBay from the UK. I just buy bulk packs of these sort of clips every so often. Reuse what you can and use new for the rest.
