D3 DRL Replace Fog Lights Any Problems

    Hi All,

I have just ordered LED replacements for the fog lights, but am now wondering if there will be any electrical problems with not having the electrical resistance of a incandescent bulb in the circuit, cost of the two lights is only $10 so they will find another use if there are going to be conflicts with the car.

2x Bright 18 LED Round Daytime Driving Running Light DRL Car Fog Lamp Head Light, approx 90mm round and 83mm deep.

I replaced them with the LEDriving Osram ones (bit too expensive, but worth it for the DRL function). No issues with electricity. The LED fog light component isn't that good, not better than the original halogen lights, but the DRL component is awesome.

My Osrams seem to have developed a mind of their own. On when the car is off and vice versa. Great when they're working. Like the car!
Anyway I don't think the fog light current would cause issues like faulty brake light switches. $10 is a cheap experiment!

I had to put a separate relay in when I wired the Osram DRLs up. They have some funny voltage sensing thing, and I have a solar panel on the roof. When it was sunny and it got above 13V, they would come on as they would think that the engine is on.....

Stuart, it sounds like you have one of the wires wired up the wrong way.

Keep in mind also - removing Fog Lights - no matter where you live - isn't a legal thing D3 DRL Replace Fog Lights Any Problems

Yeah oddly they worked fine for ages. I followed the instructions to wire them up. I'm wondering if it's an old battery thing. The alternator is still putting out 14.4 V but I've been doing a lot of short trips.

Thank's all, and it looks like I may have just bought some work lights for the caravan as I hadn't thought of the legality bit seeing as they were marketed as DRL/Fog lights and they should fit where the fog lights are as a direct replacement for them but Tombie is right, if it aint legal, it aint, and as it's meant to be seen it will be by any passing officer.
