    Nice 130 on portals

I just had a customer enquiry from a guy in France.
I thought I'd share a picture of his 130 which looks pretty awesome on portals and big tyres.

    Cheers, Murray

Tell me about it, my head nearly exploded the other day when I was working on my County, so many ideas, but not enough hours in the day, or $$$ in the project fund. Nice 130 on portals

Well that is awesome. Plenty of $$$ there for sure !

I like those grilles but they are as dear as poison. (might have mixed a metaphor there?)

Looks like he does need a rear carrier though !

Ive never seen or heard of 'portals' before. Can anyone give me a brief overview?

I think the wheels look bloody amazing.....id love to put these on mine when I next change tyres & wheels. But from what I can see it wont be quite as easy as that.

Portal axles basically have a small gearbox at each end which drops the wheels by several inches, so the vehicle will be lifted even if you retain the standard suspension. They are especially good for gaining clearance under the diffs.

There is plenty of threads on AULRO regarding portals. There have been and still some members within Aus that have portals on their Land Rovers. Some great experiences some not so great.

Thanks rijidij. Sounds great, and the TIBUS gear looks awesome. Looks very expensive though, probably out of my budget (read: much less important than my other, already long mods list)
