Early series 2a windscreen washer pump

    G'day all!

I think I've found info on just about everything relating to my 88' 2a except....

Has anyone found a replacement for the windscreen washer footpump that sits next to the headlight dimmer in the footwell?

    Thanks in advance.

My IIA has an old electric pump (mounted on top of the washer bottle). I'm in the process of replacing it, and I found a copy of it on EBAY. I'll keep you posted on the process. Frankly, with a clutch I wouldn't mess with my foot having any other tasks. I'm looking forward to getting the whole thing to work, even though it's a relatively minor project. Let me know if you want the link to the EBAY one, however there are a number of set ups that are easy to install in the Series IIA.

    Good luck!

No early Series 2a Landrovers in this country left the dealer with windscreen washers, and I have never seen any Series Landrover equipped with the factory option. I don't think that washers were fitted new to any Landrovers in Australia until well into Series 3 production.

Many were fitted with many different aftermarket washers from about the late sixties on, so there is no need to stick with what was fitted to yours when you got it!

You can buy a washer kit with bottle, pump, jet, pipe, switch etc from SuperCheap/Repco etc.

Universal Washer Kit | Supercheap Auto no picture unfortunately.

Much the same ones can be had via Ebay, most look very similar but the price is all over the place. Just search 'windscreen washer bottle kit'

Then there are the old style ones Series 1 2 Land Rover Lucas Repro ScreenJet Windscreen Washer Pump Glass Bottle | eBay

Nice but getting a bit pricey....!

    Hello from Brisbane.

The 1972 year model Series 2A 109” that we had on the farm came fitted with windscreen washers. I am assuming that they were a standard fitting as I doubt that my late Dad would have asked the dealer to fit them.

The dash switch was the same as that fitted on my present S3 88”.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Sounds as if they were fitting them to the very last of the Series 2a. It is possible that it varied from state to state as the various states mandated them around that time.

No real point, I guess, in squirting water onto the windscreen while the wipers flap around like injured ducks.
