    D3 aux input panel

Hi, I'm looking to fit the aux input panel (the one at the back of the centre console) to my 2005 D3. does anyone know if the wiring harness has the connectors built in but not used? I also need to find a panel to fit, so can anyone recommend a likely wrecker in the Melbourne area or does someone have one of these panels that they want to sell?
I've also placed this in the 'wanted ' forum.
    Thanks

    D3 aux input panel

From memory only the HSE or high spec audio had this feature. Only the power supply is there for the rear 12v socket and also the console fridge which I added both to mine (at the same time I added the stereo controls to the steering wheel).

I have the SE base spec head unit with aux button and I tapped into this behind the head unit. I can’t remember which colour wires. There was a write up somewhere on the internet.

I have a male jack which comes out near the lower 12v sockets which I use to power an audio adapter for an old school iPod shuffle. The jack plugs in here.

What I also have is a Parrot Bluetooth hands free unit that is mounted behind the hand brake lever. It taps into another wire behind the head unit (yellow?) which cuts the stereo when the hands free is operating through the car speakers. Works perfectly for over 10 years.

From distant memory I think these stereo cables to hack into also come to the passenger footwell but so much easier to access behind the head unit.

Dave , is it just for 12V /USB or audio ? There are 2 orange connectors there that are for heated seats that you can use for power, a 3 socket panel will fit in place of the pocket.

Hi Nick, I'm looking for an audio input. I have bought a Car Tablet Pro head unit that will fit into the recess just below the middle of the dash. I can power it from the socket next to the ashtray and use it's inbuilt transmitter to give me radio and maps, but my son says signal quality would be better if I hook into the car's aux input. As my car is SE spec I was wondering whether the wiring harness is the same on all spec levels and maybe the higher spec connectors are in place but not used.

Ok, there isnt the wiring for the aux and honestly the audio using the 3.5mm input sucked, i added an input next to the 12v sockets when i first got my car and used a small bluetooth device but the volume is really muffled.
Its easier to wire it directly to the plug at the back of the head unit and route the cable up into the recess.

My sound via the jack into back of head unit has been fantastic. I have a little Belkin amp / charger that runs the iPod that the jack plugs into.

Using an adapter I can direct plug in my iPhone to the jack which works perfectly without the amp.

when i first did the mod i read lots having the same low volume issue, i guess the belkin amp overcomes that issue.
