    Is this hub standard

    Hi
The following hub is off my series 2a

    http://www.aulro.com/app/data/500/medium/DSC02297.JPG

Which manual would have this hub in it??

How do i get it off, to replace the leaking oil seal??

    Thanks for your help

    Steve

Id say for starters undo all the screws and all will be revealed behind the front cover

No hub is standard, and I am not familiar with that one, although I have seen them. But like Rangieman I would guess that removing the screws will allow the operating knob to come off, revealing the nut on the end of the driving axle, which can then be removed. Carefully note where everything goes as you pull it off, and in particular watch for little bits that fall out - note where they came from. I suspect it is similar to the Warn hubs I have, with a collection of floating drive pins moved in and out by a multistart thread on the operating lever.

    Lots of digital pics.

And then when you're done you can post them up here as a tutorial for the next fella.

    Cheers

AVM i'm familiar with, but that is an earlier version than I have seen before. A few places online have install manuals for AVM hubs, but they usuall yave bolts with allen keys, not screws.

They look identical to the ones that were on my Series III. They never gave any trouble.

As others have said, just undo the screws to get access to the nut. It is a fair way in.

I don't remember anything complicated about the job.

The ones on my series 3 are a bit different, but not much. internals are probably teh same, and easy to rteplace the seal depending on what is leaking.

I just pulled a pair of them off of fozzy... (see his thread for more info + pics of the after math)

they are sealed with a pair of paper gaskets and require you to run grease in the actual freewheeling unit...

there is a seal under the "switch" but since I didnt need to remove that bit to get rid of the free wheelers I didnt look at pulling it apart..

dobbos old rover is now the most fuel effecient landrover going with 4 free wheeling hubs......

Checked mine and they do have 'Warn' on them (under all the paint).
One of mine is badly rusted, in fact one of the springs has rusted away. Took some photo's but didn't remove the selector because it looks like you need to pull out a guide pin which is an interference fit.

As Blknight said, paper gaskets and a seal around the switch/selector. Looks like they run in grease so if you have oil leaking out then maybe it's the felt/rubber 'seal' that fits on the driveshaft.
