Wink Landcrusier Mountain 7-8 March 09

    Hey Guys

    What a great Weekend,
Chock one up for the D1, I finally got it home without any issues.
I have checked underneath carefully and No Fluids pouring out
We had a great time camping, I wish I had a tape recorder when Steveo was telling his pee pee stories
The Wheeling was tremendous with plenty of tight sphincter moments for the extreme rovers and Yellow challenges for the standard ones.
    Everybody drove very well.
PS Note the driver in the first pic, well done all

Thanks to everyone that attended. As always a great group of people, some awesome cars, and some brilliant driving. Good to see a few old members returning and a few new members joining up

As always on a Friday afternoon everyone struggled to get away on time and we pretty much all turned up late. Trav did a great job of claiming our area and got the fire started in preperation for our arrival One by one we all rolled in, set up camp, and headed to the fire with a cold one in hand. A few settled straight into camp mode with the camp fire stories and banter in full swing huh Stevo

Up Saturday morning we fed the troops and rolled out with a 6 car convoy, D1-D1-D2-110-110-RRC. Being a mixed group i thought i should get a feel for what tracks we could tackled so headed for a nice challenging medium hill section. Well.....what a warm up Well stands, a few tow bar bumps and some nerve settling driving saw everyone up, down and back up Club Rally Circuit. This led us to the Pig Pen where Stevo had a quick play and we watched some Yota's get stuck door deep On to Claw Gorge which was a nice gully run in around and through the creek, with everyone negotiating it all with ease. With plenty of little ones in the cars we then headed back to camp for lunch. After lunch we headed to Telecom Hill for a quick look with 3 of the now 8 cars giving the dounting looking hill a crack. Trav, Gary and I then headed to the nice wombat section of Camp Rd where we caught up to the rest of the group. This is one of my favourite sections being a brilliant 20m up hill cross axle climb gauranteed to stretch the suspension to its limits Off to the office for ice creams, chocs and marshmellows and then onto the nice afternoon rainforest section of the park. Eve decided she should do an on the trip DARE as she missed Crystal Creek so she took control and drove everything with ease. We all nosed down Cruiser Canyon which is an Extreme rated gully run and Trav, Gary and Eve decided to continue on while the group drove round. Stevo was all keen for a crack until i gave Eve a terrible line down a rock step and crushed my rear qtr and exhaust Std qtrs on a D1 for 3 yrs of punishment.....it was only a matter of time Once i let Eve pick her own lines the three cars cruised down Cruiser Canyon with ease Trav claimed fire duties again a produced a cracker fire for the evening with plenty more beers banter and Stevo stories

Sunday morning Stevo, Trav, Gary and I headed back out for another couple of hours with some great little hills concored, some heart in the mouth moments and Smoky's first "Character Mark". I have to say Stevo......you did a great job the whole weekend and will only get better with a few more trip under your belt this year Gary, the D1 is coming along nicely and Trav, stop making everything look so easy Noz and Rat, hope to see you on another trip soon, and Dan and ( sorry) i hope you enjoyed your GCLRO taster trip and look forward to seeing you on the next one.

Following on from Gary and Philippe.......LCMP was my first time and was very inpressed..great camping grounds..tracks to suit all experience and really not that far away.

Whoo hoo we made it ( after a call to Mick G to make sure I was going in right direction )

There was a good mix of vehicles and capabilities and I for one got to test Smokey for the first time . This happened within about 2 mins from setting off from camp....a major brown undy moment.....Smokey pointed skywards after taking a bad line. With guidance from Philippe...we managed to get Smokey back down again. As far as I know, nobody captured this on film....would have been a great shot.

Noz and Trav making their way up

Then we nosed down a narrow rutted section where traction was an issue at times as you slid forward...hoping to stop

Then time to check all was ok

Then time for the more modded vehicles to tackle some of the harder sections

    Honey can you see anything

    Trav just ambling down......

Heres a pic of THE FISH aka Dan....funnily enough going for a dip

    Some Random shots

    Chris in the 110

    Smokey chillaxing

Stikman, Trav and Gary doing the wombat section at Camp Road

Camp site was excellent......toilets and showers nearby

Camp fire....what can I say...if you weren't there ya missed out on some great stories....

    Random wildlife pic....heaps of deer..

Now as for my character mark......first I saw Gary on about 4-5th attempt as shown:

So thought....righty ho....will give it some berries. However missed Phillippes....go slow signal . So yep....got over it in one hit to then face plant on the other side with a loud crunch and .....hmmmm car feels funny....have managed to pull the front bar back a bit but needs more work to be on safe side.....plus bar is cracked at front as well.

    Cheeky bugger pic

And ze peesed da resistance......awwww Travy....one to many mid strengths , we won't mention Dan needing a blanky on the first night or Hendrick's poor tum tum not taking to the beer

    All partied out

Again thanks to Philippe for guiding me through some of the tougher sections, I definately felt more confident in Smokey by day 2 and overall impressed at how she handled. Couldnt ask for better company in a great place........will definately go back to LCMP.

    Regards

    Stevo

Good trip report and good pics, especially the last one Stevo

No excuses here, I was stuffed that night after working my arse off to finish early and get to the park before dark, had bugger-all sleep the night before and yes MID's do make me drowsy funnily enough (go back to XXXX I reckon).

I have some videl of the trip that hendrik took, try to get it up on here soon.
