Series 2A door top alignment...HELP!!!!

Hi all, first of many posts relating to my inability to overcome problems with my dreaded 2A!!
I have just fitted new door tops, the drivers side is perfect but the passenger side has a gap at the top that a cat could get through!
I cannot see any way to align the door to pull it back in.
Could anyone give me some advise please.

If the gap is sideways - i.e. towards and away from the body, the alignment technique is the bend the bolts that attach the door top to the bottom. If the problem is vertical, it means either the door hinges need adjusting - there is some movement in the bulkhead hinge attachments - or there is a problem with body alignment, possibly due to accident damage or poor assembly.

There is a rubber seal that goes between door bottom and top, it would only add a mm or two though. Are they fitted to yours?
Mine only has one intact and the side without it doesn't suffer from the absence.

As JD says, bend the bolts to move the door top closer to the body. The alternative is to make up a couple of packing pieces about 40mm long and 5-10mm wide, and fit them in the outer side of the join. 3mm thick aluminium works well.

I fitted new rubbers between the tops and bottoms, the drivers side is perfect, just the passenger side.
I will try to bend the bolts but the door tops are brand new, I should not have to!!

Being new is precisely why you have to bend the mounting bolts.

Indeed! I am sure they had to do it in the factory with the new ones!!!

(where is that video of the trabant assembly line? - I am sure series landies were no different)
