I don't know but mine will get one around 3-5K to at least change the engine oil.
Hi , anyone know if there should be an early service (for the first one), maybe around 5k, like D3.
Cheers Ken

Interestingly, on the Disco 3(D4 channel) site in the UK, an entry states that there is not any drain plug for the D4 3 litre TD motor-->will require pump/suction device if doing one's own oil changes

I incorrectly made such a post but have since corrected it. There is indeed a normal drain plug.

Also, I meant to add that apparently there is not any dip stick on the D4 3 litre TD-levels given on dash computer --a small nuisance when topping up or DIY changes. Hope the computer is accurate and reliable!
Graeme,
Is that correct for the D4 3litre TD? If so then then the UK entry is incorrect and similarly my last entry(from the same site) below re the dip stick will presumably be incorrect

My reference above was regarding the UK site, but perhaps someone else has also incorrectly thought there was no drain plug. No dipstick, but I understand that the refill procedure is pretty fool-proof. Nothing like a dipstick though for such a simple check.

LR have now moved onto 12Mnth servicing of "ALL" the 10MY vehicles.
For the Discovery 4 range, servicing is as follows.
3.0L is 12Months/26000K's
5.0L is 12Months/26000K's
2.7L is 12Months/24000K's
Roamer, There is no scheduled service for a 3K or 5K service(there was never one on the D3), but as Graeme said & i would agree wholeheartedly, I would change the oil early just for peace of mind..(and also old school thinking).
They say it is not required due to the tight tolerances of engine building these days.
ON the 2.7 a Dipstick still remians. A drain plug is also there on all 3 engines. Filling is as per older D3's with the cap on the drivers side.
ON the 3.0 & 5.0 there is NO dipstick & information is in the menu on the dash. There is a Service Menu to scroll through. Best time to check is on initial ignition start(no brake pedal pressed which turns on the igition only as all vehicles have keyless start, If u press the brake pedal that will start engine) otherwise there is a delay of 10-20mins depending on which motor you have.
For you guys who plan on servicing your own vehicle, each notch down on the computer dipstick is 300mL.
Cheers.
