    Hiring a car trailer

Folks - I've rung Kennards and none of their outlets in Brisbane still rents car trailers. I've been through the U-Haul website looking for one too...... None are available.

Does anyone know where I might be able to hire one from? I need it in May - for 3 days and to go into NSW......I figured that if my trip to the Coolatai vintage tractor pull ends up a solo mission, then I'd drag Matilda behind the Defy......

and you wouldnt just drive matilda down because?

if need be and its only to tow matilda down in I think I could make my big trailer available and will fabricate in custom tie downs for the job.

Well, I might end up driving Matilda down.....but a 700 plus km trip for a weekend away in a Series 1 kind of eats into the actual weekend!

That's a very gracious offer, Dave.....But I am hoping to find a hire version so to not put anyone out.

yeah, cause my trailer is just burning up thousands of wheel miles every day....

no in convenience, but come have a look at it first... its kind of stereotypically me.

So, I'm guessing that maybe your trailer might eat into my weekend more than a 75km/h drive to Coolatai and back.....

Anyone else know of a car trailer hire mob in the Western burbs or preferably, the switch?

OK. That would be great. If I have another vehicle coming, and if they can stand it, I'll just drive Matilda.

    Dan,

    Hello again from Brisbane.

The loneliness of the long distance Land Rover drive....

Its' been more than a few decades since I tried that on myself - every Christmas my uncle would hitch up the family caravan to his S1 88" and haul it from the farm at Singleton over to Forster-Tuncurry and back for the extended family to use at the beach. A few of those times as little kids my cousin and I went with him and it was a long slow trip, especially since we went via Gresford, Dungog, Gloucester and Nabiac to avoid the dreaded Buladelah mountain. Exciting though with the long hills, noise (engine, cicadas), semi crashes, smell of the bush and hot oil etc. Not much by way of in-flight entertainment other than I spy and a water bag, billy tea, johnny cakes and pack of corned beef sandwiches. Maybe a watermelon if you were lucky.

Anyway, its' an art if not a labour of love.

My suggestion would be to leave Friday afternoon to go through Boonah to Stanthorpe and camp over at Glenlyon Dam or Texas and then cruise on to Coolatai via Yetman on the Saturday morning. Come home on as direct a route as you can find.

Still thinking of going myself one way or another.

    Cheers,

    Neil

well its overkill but ive towed it at 90.....

come look and if its suitable I'll work out what I need to do to add anchor points to it for you while Im on parental leave.

you might not need a car trailer,,
just a dual axle furniture trailer might be big enough---
