Angry Stolen 2001 110 TD5 White Defender Wagon - Laverton, Melbourne

    Hi All,

Got back to where I parked my car to see it stolen from Laverton Station, I parked up at 08:30am and returned at 17:30 with it gone.
Reported stolen to the police, so hopefully there is some good in the world.
195k on the clock, starter motor on its last legs so hopefully this may deter these low life bottom feeders.

Hopefully it shows up and very little damage

That's the second one, that we know of, flogged from a Melbourne train station, this year.
Is it organised, targeting 20 year old Defenders?
Low life scum, may the fleas of a thousand camels, infest their crutch.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Bugger. So a TD5 Defender has no BCU like the D2 to prevent theft?

I wonder if you could retrofit one?!
    Cheers

Instead of the BCU that a D2 has, they have a unit called "10AS", which provides many similar features, usually including immobilizer and alarm.

An 01 TD5 would have one of these units from factory, however they are not a robust problem free unit, and a lot have failed leaving people stranded.

An aftermarket alarm might be a good investment.

The other one was recovered safe and relatively sound, in a location that suggested that, yes, someone had missed a bus.
Hoping for a similar result here.

Amazing how most people these days ignore alarms. I reckon putting a very high dB siren inside the car might be worth a try.
A high end alarm with connectivity to an app, plus good GPS tracking is otherwise the minimum I think.
