    gday mate,
i also have 97 disco manual 380 trans.
umm i didnt have that exact problem but similar. when putting in clutch "sometimes"the gears were tight going from a gear to nuetral or visa versa. it would randomly go tight at times. previous owner had ran auto trans fluid thru it. i drained it. filled with more auto fluid for couple hundred kms. drained again, flushed it with more. then filled it up with GOOD QUALITY oil. using Castrol Syntrans 75W85. NOT syntrax which is a GL5!!! u need GL4... anyyway i was severly worried about my transmission thinking something was majorly wrong. but after a few flushes and put DECENT oil in it it now feels beautiful. nice and firm and smooth. so in my case was just crap oil, build up of crap and just a really good clean and service was in order.. this may be worth doing first? as its cheap and may eliminate other problems?
    hope this has helped...
    Cheers,
    Matt

Hi Not fully understanding the problem but this may help. One common problem is the park brake adjust too tight, this is the square hd adjuster in the back plate, the shoes in the park brake act as trailing shoes when going forward so tend to free off if there is any drag, in reverse the opposite happens they now act as leading shoes so tend to bind on if there is any drag. Try backing off the adjuster on the back plate (not the cable) to eliminate the drag on the shoes. Hope this helps. Ian Ashcroft

hi Ian have done this already when it is cold it dose it and when it hot it dosent. I have taken it to a transmission place and they are stump. it is like it is binding. the only other thing for me is to try is to take the drum off and drive the car. Thats all i can think of
