    Prodigy brake controller installation

    G'day all,

Just wondering if any of the defender dudes has installed a prodigy (or similar) break controller and could give me any tips on doing the job on a Defender TD5.

    Thanks

what did you want to know?
how to wire one into the Defender,
or mounting the unit (and location)?

I'm about to replace my old brake controller, as it seems to be faulty (over 10 years old now!)
Originally I made a custom bracket and mounted it to the transmission cover, between the transfer case lever and handbrake (yes it fits... just). Was easy to operate from there.
This location was ok, but be aware I think the cover is fibreglass, so care in using good mountings is needed?
I'm now considering mounting the new unit in the gap between the radio console and dash cluster.
I think I will need to remove part of the dash tray, haven't looked too much at it yet.

    cheers,
    Dion.

I gues, more interesten in how to wire the thing up, battery power is easy, earth no problem, running the cable to the back power plug should be easy. But what is the best place to mount the 'activator' wire? also is a breaker advisable if so what amperage?
Also, I had a look on youtube and a lot of vehicles has a standard plug for break controlers, does the defender have one?
    cheers
