D1 Airbag light on after steering wheel removal

    Sort story

I had to fix my headlight stick so took off the stering wheel to get to the stick. i re conected the airbag and now the air bag light wont go off.

Do i have to get this reset or dose it reset when the fault is clear?

    Long story

I had to work overtime at work on friday and it ment that i had to drive home at night. iwas not to happy working late so went past the bottleo to pick up a slab of beer for my efforts at work. on the drive home cracked one open and started to drink. anyway 10min drive later see flashing lights behind me. get pulled over and breath tested all fine as i only had that one drink. then the policeman informed me that i had no tail lights or brake lights. that was nice of him to inform me but he then proceded to check all the lights. my high beam switch has broken but as i generly only drive it at the day tme i havent fixed it yet.any way he put a big yellow sticker on my disco for all the light faults. Fair enough i thaught and with that i went home.

Next day had a look at break lights all ok looked at switch, switch had come loose in its holder so i fixed that next up was the tail lights. one was working one was not. easy that one it was just a globe Next up High beams. removed the stering wheel to access the switch. removed switch and pulled it apart. seemed that the plastic had melted over the contact so removed melted plastic and put it all back together and tested it. it worked like a dream. however i stupidley left my high beams on while i conected the stering wheel back together. got the stering wheel back together and started it up to go for a spin. nothing battery flat dident have another car to jump start it as my whifes car is at the airport as she is away. Rung up mate who droped me off at the wifes car and so i then jumped started my car with the wifes car suscess. went for a drive car and lights are all good but airbag light is staying on

So dose this require a reset or have i not conected the airbag up properly and it will reset when it is conected again?

You've probably turned the ignition on whilst the bag was disconnected and it's logged a fault with the bag. I suspect you'll need some sort of diagnostic hardware to clear it.

If the car has to be inspected to get rid of the yellow sticker, there's a good chance they'll defect it for the SRS light.

Yea thell pick up the SRS for sure

yea. Turned on the ignition to unlock the steering lock when trying to undo steering wheel.

What about disconecting the battery for a while will this reset the SRS?

If i cant do it myself then its going to be dificult finding an approved repairer to fix it. Im in port hedland

Taking the globe out will log another fault. You could paint the globe black. It's unlikely that they'd notice.

G`day , either one will do it , that is power on with the bag disconnected or a simple flat battery is enough for these and likely by your description .If you can see the light doing the diagnostic and then staying solid , it will need a reset .Overlooking a darkend light sounds good but testers would normally know that if it`s got bags how the light will react when the ignition is turned on but you could be lucky .Discos have one or two bags and have different ecus if yours is a two bag and you find a RR softdash , early P38a or D2 with a clear ECU they are all the same but make sure the battery is charged .Cheers

If you were nearby, I'd clear it for you.

I don't know if it's feasible to send the module to me.

If it's an AMR4905, I could plug it into my car, reset it using my Testbook, and return it. I recently bought the dongle to allow me to access the SRS system.

However, with it removed you will have no SRS.

Alternatively, contact Jezzaol (of this forum) in Perth. He was stripping an early P38A and may have an AMR4905.
