fitting rear main seal to 300Tdi.

When fitting a rear main seal to a 300 Tdi engine, does it go on dry or should we apply some oil to it?

Put plenty of oil on the lip or you might burn the lip off it before it gets lubrication from the engine. I used to drop oil seals into a tray of oil overnight to soak them properly. This is after I killed a couple by putting them in dry.

Rear mains must be put on dry on a 300tdi.
If you put oil on it, it is guaranteed to leak.
    Follow the instructions on RAVE.
The rear main seals come with a special coating which is designed to go on dry.
