If you car has a centre diff lock then take off the prop shaft, lock the cdl and drive carefully.

From where did you order the part? They should be readily available and you shouldn't need to wait for 10 days.

If you remove the front drive shaft, you can then drive the vehicle if you lock the centre diff (push high/low range lever fully across to left.

The vehicle will be safe to drive on the road at normal speeds, but you might, at first find the handling a little bit different because it is now 2 wheel drive (like most others on the road) instead of 4 wheel drive. You will soon get used to it, but be careful in the wet until you are comfortable with its new handling (corners and braking).

Normally problems with drive shafts just need new universal joints (common Spicer part) and don't require a new drive shaft. Much cheaper to replace uni joints. Depending what seal/boot is on the slip joint it may need replacing. If splines in slip joint are badly worn, a new drive shaft may work out cheaper than having the slip joint replaced. Any mechanic should be able to remove drive shaft replace both uni joints and refit drive shaft in less than 2 hours.

Edit: Driving with a bad uni joint is not a good idea as they can let go at any time and if travelling at speed when it happens it can be extremely dangerous. So remove the drive shaft and lock the centre diff.
