This probably means that it will not be possible to hook up another fuel sender unit for an aux tank to this same display. (with a switch to choose which tank to display.)
If the Fuel Sender unit fails to supply a signal (fault, short, open circuit) then DTC B1A7501 is logged by the instrument cluster. This would mean that you couldn't even switch the signal to the cluster from the fuel sender over to a second unit without potentially tripping the DTC to be logged. I don't know if this is self clearing but if it is you could potentially use the same signal from the same sender unit in a different tank provided you can match the return current of the second sender to the other tank level.
A better option would definitely be a second external fuel gauge.
