12,500lb winch on D2 TJM Bar

I previously had a 9,000lb winch on the front of the D2.
It has a TJM T17 bar with winch cradle.
The previous winch fitted all tidy on the cradle, with the control box and everything else tucked away under the bullbar, on the winch cradle.

After a few waves and a couple of DEEP puddles at Rainbow beach, the previous winch **** itself.
I also lost a front number plate and a spotlight as well

Anyway, I have a 12,500lb winch, but the control box won't fit as per the previous smaller one.
So, I have the option of fitting above the bar, but I don't really want to do this for two reasons.
1. People can mess with it, and it looks crap.
2. I plan to put decent spotties back there.

So, what are my options/suggestions from the better informed and technical minds out there?
Is it an issue to place it elsewhere?
How hard is this?
Where is the best spot?
How hard is it to make 'in-cab' controls or fitment?

Change to a solid state controller

I moved my Ironman controller up under the bonnet near the brake booster on the side of the guard. I did this to keep it out of the muck and give better airflow to the radiator as it was between the spotlights on top of my TJM bar. I ran longer heavy duty cables between the controller and the winch. The Ironman controller is wireless so don't need to get to it. But if I do need to use the hard wired controller I can pop the bonnet and run the cable out. Alternatively you could put a switch in the cabin. If you need a picture just ask and I'll take some.

You can put it where the jack is meant to go next to the ECU, nice and close to the battery too.

You cant tell from the mud but it is a very neat setup with nice convoluted tubing from controller box to winch.

Thank Nick, yes that is still the Blackwood dust/mud under the bonnet. It's been running so well lately that I'm a bit reluctant to spray water around under the bonnet in case I stuff it up. Got the rest of the car cleaned up though. I like to put all the high current cable in tubing to stop it rubbing through and shorting anywhere. Being in the Comms industry I have plenty laying around so might as well use it. We will have to head out again soon.
