    What to do.?? Disco 1

    Hi all.
i am lost. i have a Disco 1 V8 on gas going well, but just starting to have small things playing up. We do a lot of camping and 300km per tank of gas doesn't get you off the black stuff. I have worked the V8 and love the noise.
Looking at changing to a Disco TDI auto. so all my add ons will change over.
is the TDI 300 a good motor or an i better off with the old V8.
800+ km per-tank is one thing i'm liking.
Just don't know what to do.
    Matt & Jo.

You will likely come out slightly out of pocket but the fuel range will make up for it, i'd say go for it. At least being on gas already you car will be more saleable than if it wasnt. I had 2 V8 rangies before and i'd pick my tdi any day especially an auto.

What "add ons" are you planning to swap over, I just swapped all of my add ons from my 93 V8 Disco Auto over to my 94 Disco 300TDi Auto, if you need any tips/advice, Regards Frank.

    Yep go for it.

I did and love it. I also loved the noise and power but the range was crap.
The tdi can be tuned a bit and with the tweak and gas it will be much better.
Take some for a drive and judge for yourself.

Biggest concern would be the possibility of inheriting someone else's problems. At least you know the current vehicle.

It's happened to me before. I swapped my V8 County for a Tdi Disco for effectively the same reasoning and even though I had it checked out was stung for $10k in repairs over the following 12 months.

I have also owned both, agreed the V8 sound is nice but I actually preffer the sound of my turbo.. the economy of the tdi is unbeatable, i'll never look back.. oh and this also makes your vehicle more puddle freindly ..with a snorkel installed of course.
