Just been out with a tape to the shed and the distance from the rear lip to the mounting face is roughly 100mm or so
not at all, it is just another way of expressing backspace.
offset is either, positive, zero or negative, based on the distance from the centerline of rim to mounting face. (positive is have the mounting face closer to the outside of the rim)
backspace is the measurement from the mounting face to the inside lip of the rim.
yes the rover rims are different from RR-Disco-LR-Defender, but I know what I have and what is stock.
Remember the rim width is the inside measurement between the mounting flanges, so any tape measuring you do has to take into account the thickness of the wheel flange. I cut a piece of wood to lay inside the wheel edges and them measure off the centre to the straight edge of wood, deduct how many mm of flange you think you have, 3 to 6mm![]()
Example #1 - 37" Creepys (heavy tyre) on centred 16x8" rims. Wheeled the absolute **** out of it three times a week, donuts, hard flops, fast beach work (2 ft washouts at approx 70klms). blablabla never had a problem.
Example #2 - 37" Creepys on -25 16x8" rims. Wheeled moderately, some hard stuff, generally fairly easy goin, not a drama.
Example #3 - 37" Treps on -30 17x9" rims. Wheeled once, no further feedback due to busted power steering.
Example #4 - 37" Creepys on centred 16x8" rims and 55mm wheel spacers, wheeled hard, broke panels! overheated. Never a drama in the area of concern.
I guess what I am saying is you should be fine. I am keen to see other responses to this thread.

Ok Just measured it again more accurately using a straight edge and so on.
From the very outer edge of the rim to the outside of the mounting face is 130mm
The mounting flange is about 5mm
From the very inside edge of the rim to the inside of the mounting face is 95mm
Total maximum width is 230mm.
They were supplied as a -25
I'm with Grimace. You shouldn't have any issues.

ok I think I know where the difference is, just measure some LR steel rims. They are 6 inch wide, but actually measure 191 mm wide. This is because the tyre mounting width is 6 inches then you have the rolled lip on the inside/outside of the rim. This rolled lip is approx 19mm wide, hence the difference in width from 6 inchs to nearly 8.
so Psimpson7, if your rims are 8 inch rims, the extra 30mm is the rolled lip of rim, 15mm inside 15mm outside.
230 dived by 2 = 115mm, 115-25= 90, which is close enough to what you are measuring for a -25 offset.
