Thread: Best place to get slight stumble off idle on D2 V8 diagnosed - spark parade

Hi all. I have had my 02 D2 V8 Man since new. I have, in the last year done new coil packs, new leads, new plugs, changed 02s and new MAF - all LR stock items. During that time I have had a VERY SLIGHT stumble on petrol just off idle. If you are under the bonnet and use the throttle bracket on the plenum and just give it a very light bit of throttle you can hear it as a stumble just above idle and then it revs out nicely. Of course on petrol this is no big deal arguably, but on LPG (with mixer and lambda controlled converter) this leads to a backfire every once in the while when taking off from a stationary position. I have checked for vac leaks and it all seems ok.

What is the best place to go with the best gear to check spark parade, vacuum, diagnosing the electronic engine management etc (ie a place like MR at Redcliffe I suppose) or at 160,000 is it just likely to be a little bit of carbon on the valves etc that I cannot do anything about (even though I have looked after the engine very well oil change and coolant wise).

Thanks all. Yep the intake gets gunked at times...I have not cleaned mine for a while - usually use MAF safe intake cleaner up the guts. As for CRC v Vac leaks - thanks Andrew. I have used that trick before (aerostart works well) but my concern on a stepper controlled set up is that it might react so quickly to a rise in revs to bring them back down that it would be hard to pick it...but I will give it a going over anyway.
