I have three sets of HID converted driving lights (2 on the Rangie, one on the wifes Laser ).

All pretty easy conversions. The first conversion I bought has had two bulb failures (in about 5 years), I actually ordered some replacement bulbs today.

I have never converted normal headlights, but I know people who have and are happy with them.

All of mine are 4300K, which I believe is the nearest to factory fitment HID.

I was going to fit them, but decided against it as I was told without 'self leveling headlights' it could get me into trouble with the boys in blue / insurance companies etc.

5000k 35 watt hi / lo 2+ years ago. Slight blue tinge which I didn't like at first. OK with them now. Aimed lower than spec in standard RRC 81 issue lamps and love them. Would never go back to halogen, cost $180.

    cheers, DL

Just do it and you will never want to use the old halogen ones again.

I have 35w 6000k Hi/Lo in the Disco, I'm getting flashed with low beam by oncoming traffic, I think my headlights are a tad high, especially with high beam, so I'm going to adjust them to get high beam right and that may also help with the oncoming traffic in low beam, (I hope)

I have HID spotties and when going from high beam and the spotties on to low beam, it was terrible, you couldn't see for a few seconds, so after fitting the HIDs to the headlights it is all good now.

    Ditto

35w 6000k Hi-Lo, my eyes seem to suit the 6000k wavelength.

    55w HID spotties

After hitting the Roo near Cobar at 2am we also did the driving lights and were left to drive through the night on just the headlights..

They are a magnificent upgrade, and we were *relatively* happy considering the options we were left with!

As for legallity, so many 4wds in my town have HID conversions, its odd to see one that doesnt

I have 35w 4300k h4,s in my Defender as others say just do it, Ive adjusted mine down as in not to dazzle other drivers
A couple of things keep them clean at all times as they will dazzle other drivers when dirty and they are crap on high beam as they just throw the beam every where but if you have good driving lights that wont worry you
