Because it isn't as accurate as a dial type in that situation.
Also remember to use the revised (lower) figure, not the one in the service manual.
Having said that, plenty of us use a click type and don't have a problem if you are careful
There's a link to the Difflock article somewhere on here. If you don't already have it, I'd suggest following their guide as they use the revised tension figures and IIRC a click type tension wrench.
