It is a pretty easy do-it-yourself type of job.

I can't recall if a crossmember has to come off for access though.

Drain oil, drop pan, replace filter, refit pan with new gasket, refill oil (4 litres Dexron III).

Shouldn't take too long.

It is simple enough to do yourself if you have the time. If you have a v8 with auto it would be easier to take cross member out first.

The only thing you need to buy is torque bit set to undo the filter inside.

so if you the time anything can be done.

If you can do an engine oil & filter change, you can do your auto too.
Cleanliness is the key though but otherwise, there's nothing hard about the job.

I do mine every 40000km or so but if you do a lot of towing I would probably do it more often.

I'll agree to the above, you do need a Torx bit (no.28 I think) to get the filter off, and there is 1 bolt on the sump that is tricky to get to but it's do-able. I buy filters from Paddocks in the UK, They are VERY expensive here in NZ.

Some more help please, to get to the corner bolt do you have to remove the mounting bracket? and doesn't this affect the kickdown setting.also the book says about 9 litres not 4 litres, does the other 5 remain in the box? How can you flush it out?

So how do you drain the torque converter?. Pat
