    LOL well put Phill

My VE GTS M6 (317 kw) wont pull a flat 13s 1/4 standard. Maybe it is a special VN GRPA SS V6 HAHAHAHA. (had to be said)

P.S. Any way who cares this is a Land Rover forum not a VN bomadore forum.

    Cheers

    Holden OWNERS ALL the same......

    Full OF ****!!!!

Anyway, not really my Problem, I just wish i lived in Dream Land too...

My Isuzu work truck would be running good times...

Wouldn't have to take the RACE car on the back of it, just race it at the track...

    Some people never grow up....

Reminds me of talking to TEENAGERS at the drags...

Who all have a "mate" who has this ****ING TUFF COMODORE MAN, has 900hp and RUNS 9 secs, should ****ING SEE IT MAN.....

Keep it up, gives me a LAUGH....

Unfortuantely physics states (and is PROVEN many times over and over AGAIN) that you need to HAVE a certain amount of Horspower/torque to run a CERTAIN Time...

And also, for people who use a calculation, or tool such as the MOROSO slide rule, you need the AVERAGE HP of the cars RPM range ....

because the car isn't at MAX HP for the whole run...

Found that out too, personally when my 666hp falcon was off by about 3/tenths.

But when i worked out that I had to average the HP figure from 4000rpm(covertor lockup) to 6800rpm(shift and RPM through finish) then it was spot on....

So in fact the HP I had to use was closer to 620-630 HP...

    Chad

oh well, back to the 3.9. i doint know or care about commodores, I think those who drive and spend money on them are just clones.

OK the Toyota supercharger you are running are a bit different to say an Eaton. The Eaton has mechanical clearance between the tips of the rotors and the housing. Toyota in there wisdom (quite smart) Teflon coated there rotors and run an interference fit between the rotors and housing.
In short this is a good thing making the Toyota a bit more efficient than its companion. the down side is it limits the revs that you can SPOOL THE THING UP TO. Now considering it comes of a smaller motor and as mentioned above it seems a simple job to over diver the unit, unfortunately you will hit the limit rather quickly. I would say no more than 15-20% overdrive.

0.5 psi sounds about correct for a 1:1 drive which in its self should give you about 15% more air (overcoming vacuum)

With these Toyota supers you do need to run some pressure behind the seals if you get higher boost pressures. i think 7PSI was std for these and i have seen a couple up around 20 psi, but this is out side what you will be able to achieve.

in all honesty, I would rip the thing out and follow a more proven track for a NA 3.9

I know this is not what you want to hear and im sorry about that but unfortunately as cool as a supercharged V8 sounds it is hardly some thing that can be done on a budget.

Whats this .5psi ? I can **** more than that . surely you mean .5bar or 7psi . Why would you bother ? for .5PSI ? go get one of them electric hairdryer jobs for .5PSI
    Rover V8 at more than 5psi wit a standard bottom end = 2 x 4 cylinder half blocks !!!

chill out and think about it will you? his super is off either a 1.6 or a 2Ltr that run 6-7 psi at a 1:1 drive. i think its the latter.

as its a positive displacement pump its shifts air, pressure is a measure of what isn’t used.

if the 3.9 V8 asthmatic as it is, in std trim is only able to get 85% of its air then .5 psi is still a 25% improvement and unlike a turbo its from idle.

any way i wouldint be bashing the guy, in fact i would be patting him on the back for giving it a go

i agree, and i predict it will go a bit better than expected, some of the commodore guys put them on both the 3L and 3.8L engines with decent results for the money involved, sure, its not going to break any records, but that isnt the point

if i could get my head around how to make a decent bracket for one, i would try it also

I'm pretty sure my defender will do a 14 second quarter mile.

(So long as I don't have to do it from a standing start)

regarding the coating i think it can come off once you start reving/heating the screws...the toyota chargers generally arent that succesful due to running out of puff..not being able to feed a larger capacity.....i am also looking into turboing a 3.9 , but as mention getting the fueling .ignition right will be the biggest thing..
