Thread: Penrite fully synthetic oil

In a recent post Tombie2 stated that it is great stuff, it was in the D2 transmsion cooler upgrade post I think. I thought he said SIN 5 was discontinued so you need to use Diesel 5 instead?

I will be giving it a go, due for a service now myself and will be useing the penrite SIN ATF and diesel 5 oil

I was going to run it in my Tdi,if it's Penrite it's good. Pat

I have been trying to find the posts on penrite, must be using the wrong wording.
Had a look lastnight on the penrite web site and it is still listed.
Diesel 5 [5W-40 is a semi synthetic] not a full synthetic.

I've been running the Penrite SIN Diesel for the last 12 months. 5w-40. Only comes in 6L tubs, so you need 2 to do an oil change (D2a Td5). Was costing me around $93/6L ... I originally asked the auto parts supplier for HPR Diesel 5 and they got the SIN Diesel in, so that's what I used.

... am almost due for another oil change, and am changing over to the HPR Diesel 5 (5w-40 also). It's a "synthetic performance" oil ... ie: it "performs" like a synthetic (as per Penrites say so). It's only costing me $125/20L ... a dam site cheaper, and I do oil & filters every 10,000km.

Will be c/o to the SIN ATF when the auto's due for it's next oil change as well.

According to the Penrite agent here in W.A. syn diesel is no longer made. Therefore have had to settle for the HPR Diesel 5 - Semi synthetic as Fluids mentioned. This oil is recomended by Penrite for the TD5.

Whilst poking around in Matz I noticed that the Synthetic 5W60 has a B3 and B4 rating which is way above the TD5 manual info. Altho mainly for petrol motors can be used in diesels. Anyone have thoughs on this matter?

Also it appears that Penzol is pulling out of Oz. Only has 3% of sales. How true? Dont know.

too heavy IMO. Stick to an xW-40.

One to consider is Penrite Diesel SP 10W-40.
It has no petrol rating but is blended for Euro heavy duty diesels, particularly Euro IV engines with particulate filters, but is backwards compatible and looks like a strong oil.
I've been using it for at least 18 months now but have no UOA's to report yet to compare to Delvac 1.

Also it appears that Penzol is pulling out of Oz. Only has 3% of sales. How true? Dont know.

Owned by Shell, most all their lubes are blended here by Shell so it's up to Shell to market the brand better if they want higher sales, but i suspect Shell would look at it as taking away share from the Shell brand more than the opposition.

Im using Castrol Edge in mine.5w40.Shop around as the price varies HEAPS.
Always have been a Penrite fan/user but thought that theirs was too heavy.
