    Shock Absorbers for Defender/County

I have a Land Rover County 110 that is currently running Rockcrawler's however have just broken one of the rear lower rubber spacers and they are over 5yrs old and are past their due by date so am in the market for some new ones. Currently have coil locating cones that allow the coils to dislocate.

Just poke to Tough Dog, they say I shouldn't have the coil dislocate like that and the only shock I can use is fc41397 (532mm) which would stop the coils from coming down the locating cones. While he makes sense that means I then loose some of the travel that I have now

I measured the shocks and bottom mount to centre of the top eye is 510mm when stationary. Made a mark where the shock sat then jacked up the car from the centre of the tow bar and distance to the texta mark was a bit over 70mm. Extending a further 20-30mm saw the rear tyres lift, limiting factor appeared to be other geometry (a arm, trailing arms) as shocks still had further extension and springs could dislocate more. Rear springs were dislocated approx 25mm when the shocks were 70mm extended with the coil locators having a further 200mm of space.

Would there be an alternate T/D part that would still allow that dislocating by 30-50mm for a little more travel? It seemed they didn't want to deal with dislocating coils in anyway.

Mate I run TD's on my Fender and Disco and on the Fender I had to buy spring retainers because they do dislocate and the **TWANG** going back home is horrendous.. but I'm thinking of goin to some FOX shocks with the independent resevoir.. Bloody Sith sent me to this site and it has been costly www.safari-gard.com some good gear on there...

What model were the T/D's you had in the fender?

Just saw a 2002 Defender tonight with a 6" lift, T/D adjustables, airbags, different lower mounted shocks on rear axle and different trailing arms. Will post pics up later

    Hello.

Just wondering where you got your coil relocating cones from? I'm chasing a set for my D2, also what Long travel shocks are you running? I need some of them too!!

    Cheers.
