ZF Auto Oil Lines - disco vs rangie

I have an auto from a 89 rangie and when compared to the disco ZFs the rangie one has much smaller oil lines - 5/16 for rangie vs 3/8 for disco (if I am getting my sizes right here?)

The larger lines for the disco are more of a standard size and match most of the oil coolers on the market.

My qu is should I upgrade my lines to the larger size and will the lines from a latter ZF box bolt into my earlier ZF box and where can you get the lines?

    Thanks

    Thanks Tombie

The 94 Disco (series 1) auto I have in my other car has a large nut
The 89 Rangie ZF auto has a nut with a step down socked screwed into it.

Hence I wondered if I pulled the sockets off the 89 box that the D1 lines would bolt straight in?

Still wanted to figure out if the flow rater impact would make any difference? Or is the really issue here that an after market cooler is going to work so much better then the hedgehog that the smaller pipes do not matter.

The "Hedgehog" is about as useful as a sore arse to a boundry rider...

Flow wont be the issue, sticking a nice aftermarket cooler and chucking the 'hedgehog' will see you right.

if the hedge hog cooler is what I call the dunny brush cleaner, then it may not have the cooling efficiency but you can clean mud off it easily. So I have two, that dont restrict flow to the radiator. I am still having auto temp issues, long high range hills, and i'm looking at an aftermarket cooler but need somewhere to fit it that wont fill with mud, get airflow and wont require reengineering the wheel to accomodate.

    What have you fellas done?
I had a 5.0l supercharged engine and 35's and it never got hot.

I replaced my lines with the small ones to the big ones by removing the adaptor nut which is in the gearbox. Just check with andrew e or Bundalene, but I think there was a difference in the shape of the fittings which did have to be matched if I recall correctly.

For fitting different coolers, I had Pirtek modify the lines using pressure fittings.
    Cheers
