    Discovery s1 bullbar installation

    Hey all.

I have a small problem that I'm sure someone out there has come across.
I have recently obtained a factory bullbar for my Discovery 1, but can't work out how to remove the plastic guard that holds the number plate, in order to attach the bullbar.

Does anyone know how to do this Obviously Simple but frustrating procedure?

From memory the plastic bit is held on with some spring steel retaining washers that look like a star washer - but with the "teeth" on the inside. The are pushed over plastic pins that are part of the plastic moulding and go through holes in the bumper.

If you take the bumper off you should see them on the inside. They are a one way sort of thing, and not designed to come off easily. The method of getting them off depends on whether you want to re-use the plastic moulding later or not. I think the last one I removed I just hit the end of the plastic pin with a hammer and drove it through the retaining washer.

    Thanks heaps SteveG.

I thought it would be something fairly easy, but didn't want to force the issue and break something.

There's also 2 screws quite well hidden in the centre of the unit too. Found this out the hard way when trying to do the same as you last weekend.

Ended up just ripping the damned thing off in frustration and having various fixings pinging all around the garage.....

    Thanks!
I should add that this part on my Disco had seen some action with it's previous owner, and so was NFG anyway. I just hastened it's demise
