    FRC8220 was never going to fit, it's for a "Rover" type diff. On the plus side, it should be the right seal for your front diff pinion

    you guys have all been very helpfull, both with the nut and the seal.
    (altho i think i might have come up with the idea about breaking the nut against the chassis first - but thanks for confirming it's ok to do )
    i'm gonna have to wait til monday to get karcraft to express bag me a new seal. glad i've got a Tercel as backup vehicle.
