Just lost all the power steer fluid, thanks to a small hole in the feed pipe, from the reservoir to the pump.
Its rubber at both ends with a metal section in the middle. Which rests against the engine sump edge.
Normally it should have a piece of rubber around it for protection, but ten years on, this has worn through. And so had the metal pipe section.
To check it you will need to crawl under the front, remove the plastic splash guard and its just above a metal radiator pipe, passenger side of engine. Best do this when the engine is cold.
A new hose will set you back about sixty bucks plus skinned nuckles.
But a new bit of rubber and cabble ties alot less.![]()

Also check your air con lines one of them can rub through near the engine mount

Had this problem just recently, was lying on the ground at midnight near yass nsw about 0 degrees trying to work out why i had no power steering. luckily that pipe isn't under too much pressure and i was able to limp it home with a patch job.. seems like its more common than you think. Wouldn't happen on a fender though

thanks George, would have been looking you up if i couldn't have got it going but with some duck tape and a couple of hose clamps and a new bottle of ps fluid she was all good. lasted all the way back to alice.![]()

The patch up job on this failure is really simple as the hose is the supply to the PS pump ... it's not under pressure.
Mine failed a short time ago ... same as yours ... elec' insul' tape, and 2x small hose clamps ... quick fix that'll last almost forever ... or until you get around to fixing it.
New hose was about $37.
