Mud Tyres, What brand, what size and where from?

    Stupid question coming from me....

    BUT.....

I'm about to buy some new rubber for the county.....

i want either 32" or 33" sized rubber and i want mud profile..
No i dont want simex style mud... i want BFG style mud

I'm using them for an allrounder tyre.... so i dont want AT's i want mud...

Who has what and what size and where did you get them.
Must fit on std Disco or 130 wolf rims... ie 16" diameter 7" band

Looking at the new BFG Muds in 265/75/16 as i have a brand new spare so i dont have to change that, BUT i will buy 5 if the price is right

Will 285/75/16's fit on Disco or 130 rims??? will they foul on std bodywork on a 110? will they scrub??

    my last 265/75/16 were great...

I have simex ET's so i dont need a set that agressive...
Enough info for your personal opinion....

Ohh give me a fair idea on how good they are.... comparison to the last set you had....

My previous set of muds were the Kuhmo KL71 which were great in all conditions, couple of negatives they were reasonably quick wearing due to the soft compound and they were slightly smaller than the size indicated, but I believe this is a common occurrence across all brands. They are a directional tyre but that didn't bother me as I never had a flat.

I changed to MTZ's for the Cape trip last year, mainly because I found a set of 5 at the right price and it also meant that my second spare was a similar size. They are more of an agressive A/T rather than a specific mud. I have road tyres but its easier just to leave the MTZ's on.

I have the old pattern 255/85R 16 BFG Muds on 130 wheels on the 130, They rub on the radius arms on full lock, fixable by winding out the steering stops.

I had the same on the county on standard Disco wheels, again rubbed on the radius arms. Also just touched the top rear spring mounts at full articulation, but only just enough to keep the mud off. The rears also hit the captive nut for the seat belts in the load area again at full articulation, this stopped when the standard springs were replaced with ARBs, proving standard is better.

I got 85-90,000Km out of the first set, I got about the same on the Suzuki 215/75R15.

The 265/75R16's will go on a 7 inch disco rim but not a 6.5 inch 130 rim

As a side note, I ran tubes in the county and had a fair few problems till I removed the tubes, on the 130 I run bead lock as the the wheels aren't tubeless wheels.

Steve, widetread in ferntree gully have some Dunlop Grandtrek MT2's in 265/75/16 size for $229 each. Great tyre, hard wearing and a good semi aggressive pattern. I 've had a set for about 7 years and havent killed them yet.

Go the new BFG MT, for the disco rims either 285 or the 265's.
The new BFG's have apparently come a long way.

I have BFG MT KM2's on my Defender - 265/75/16.

These won a recent tyre comparo in 4WD Action. The previous version also won it during a previous comparo.

I can endorse them fully both n and off road. They are surprisingly good on the bitumen.

    My advice.......Get many quotes!!!!!!!!!!

When I bought my 5 I had quotes for "over $400 bucks each mate" to $300.

For the 7" rims there is the 265/75 and 235/85 which are about 31.7" and 255/85's which are about 33.3". On the 8" rim there is the 265/75 which is a 31.7" and the 285/75 and 305/70 which are 32.9".
