Will fuel pass through the Injector Pump when the engine is NOT running??

I'm currently setting up an SVO setup for my defender, and need to purge the fuel system before turning off the engine, or run the risk of an IP full of solidified oil the next day.

So, is it possible for me to pump diesel through the fuel system, in particular the injector pump, when the engine is not turning over??

yes but it only takes about 1 minutes worth of idling to have the engine do it anyway so when you drive onto your street, switch back to diesel, drive up to your house, reverse in, undo the seat belt, get out close the gate then turn the engine off.

Thats the better way of doing it because it also pumps diesel through all of your injectors, injector lines return lines and filters. trust me on this.

Sounds like the voice of experience I have a turbo timer sitting in the shed doing nothing - I think it's found a new purpose.

yep and if you were to get really clever with the wiring and purchase a timer kit from jaycar for about $20 dollars you could set it up so that not only would it automatically switch over to SVO prior to shutdown it would also wait 5 (or any other number) minutes prior to switching over to SVO after startup

Already have, and have gone one better. SVO has to hit a particular temperature in the heat exchanger before the system will switch from diesel to SVO.
