Galvanized Capping
Prior to painting a ute-back Ser 3 LWB, I have removed the gal cappings and would like to brighten the surface up as it has that white surface powdery finish now.
Can it be acid/alkali bathed to restore ?
Or is it better just to wire brush & etch prime it and then give it a coat of paint or cold gal?
.... thanks - Laurie

Best option is to get them re-galvanised.
Otherwise, a wire brush/steelo and vinegar - or some weak acid. However by doing this you will be reducing the lifetime of the gal by a small amount.
Phosphoric acid or undiluted degreaser will likely make it whiter.
