    300 TDI question

    Hi all,
I have now been running my 300TDI with a TD5 turbo for close to 6000k and i must say i haven’t looked back it's transformed the old oiler more then i ever could have imagined. One thing i haven’t got around to fixing is my EGT gauge as it got stuck in the old manifold and unfortunately i destroyed it attempting to get it out. Anyway with a tweaked fuel pump i was running at the higher end of the 300TDI safe EGT scale with the std turbo and manifold before the conversion and was always worried about melting the turbo. Now that i have a TD5 turbo can I run higher EGTs or am I still at risk of melting everything??

    Cheers
    Mick

EGT levels are the same, your concerned for the melting point of the pistons

Have a look on the thermoguard website.
I have their gauge and he owns a tdi. Good bloke and very very knowledgeable.
Interesting website with loads of factual research.

Remember the bloke from OS (Scotland ?) that posted the photos of his Tdi on the OL Rover board with the turbo and manifold almost white hot

He just kept winding the fuel up so it went better and better
