Since the fitment of the mantec snorkel,i think the engine needs more air, hope this mod gives better air flow
Are you suggesting that the Mantec snorkel restricts airflow into the engine?? Only because I am thinking of purchasing one and wouldnt like to think it was going to impact on performance....

I keep investigating the whole snorkel thing http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-...i-snorkel.html ,that's why i didn't(luckily) mod the airbox,i also observed this http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...travel-qs.html ,so the hyclone "thing" inside the airbox, send the water at the bottom of the airbox..

From when I built a snorkel for my mate's RRC I saw the snorkel head had slots to let water out that hits the back wall of the head. The pipe fits into the head far enough to allow a drip gutter as it were to form around the pipe. That's why you see relatively little bulk water in the air cleaner.”

Always wondered why those slots were on the Safari snorkel head? Always thought they were there simply to allow for slight differences in main tube diameter.

There has been no more development on the MAF, we can now offer an
uprated MAF sensor that will stop the missing at top end.

Further from Gary Wood on the uprated MAF:

Our uprated MAF sensors are £85+vat each, and we do have them on stock, to buy direct from us.

Such is the specialist nature of their application, we do not list these on our website, so are supplied as required.

And the latest from Gary in relation to my question about whether the ECU tune had to be redone to suit the uprated MAF or what:

It will just swap, and work just fine.

So I guess that now provides four options:
    unplug the MAF.
    Bypass the MAF.
Uprated MAF from Alive Tuning (perhaps B.A.S. also do one too as they seem to sell the same electronic devices often!?!).
or the two channel turbo booster box.

I purchased and installed the TD5 Alive/Alive Tuning MAF sensor today. Haven't actually had a chance to drive the car with it though to see if it helps my problem.

In regards to it, it's a **** fit. It's made out of far cheaper plastic than the genuine unit. It's not made to the exact right size specifications either as it's extremely hard to push into the air filter box lid.
