I thought the RR torqueflite conversions used the LT95 tfr case off the LT95 gearbox/tfr case combo.

Scott - is the tfr case attached to the torqueflite a Lt230 or an Lt95. Irrespective of this - buy a LT95 out of an nearly 80s RR and you will get .996? high range gears which are even better than the ones you intend to use. Even if you cannot get the .996 Lt95 these gears are be bought for about $400 or even cheaper on ebay when they come up.

Scot have you given any thought to putting in a R380, as per the thread below.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...onversion.html

I had a 4bd1/LT95 and always felt the the gears were spaced to far apart for the motor, particularly 3rd 4th. Mine was dead stock naturally aspirated but on 255/85R16s.

I would look at keeping a five speed, either rebuild yours, an R380 or an Isuzu, but the Isuzu box will need an Isuzu flywheel housing, flywheel, clutch, starter motor and I believe there are clearance issues with the starter motor.

Your other option is to fit an Ashcroft factory reconditioned LT85 from the UK,Ashcroft Transmissions - Santana LT85 this will cost you £550.00 (aprox au$910) plus shipping. There is a depost of £225 (A$370) for the return of your exchange unit, however with the cost of shipping you may as well pay the core charge and forget the exchange.

You will still fit it up to your current LT230, but there is no added cost of all the conversions and trying to find an Isuzu/LT95 bell housing.

It will last you at least as long as your current LT85 without all the headache.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    You thought wrong, LT230R

Also, you want a high compression, 82-4 RR LT95, so you get short shift and 0.996:1 gears

Kaa45's offer is looking pretty good now.
It only appears that way, there is so many differences its amazing, front radius arms for example, small pin, narrow bush, fat pin-narrow bush, fat pin-fat bush......all similar, all allow the ability to interchange stuff, just gotta watch the combinations

If Kaa45 is going to swap all his LT95 gear for your LT85, Do that, failing that, sourcing an LT95 with bellhousing etc will be a little troublesome, all still makes the kit and truck 5 speed an attractive option I think

$1380.00 plus shipping, it would be worth getting a shipping quote. Dave and Ian Ashcroft are both AuLRO members.

Ashcroft website suggests either, but doesn't specify an additional cost.

Ask Ian Ashcroft http://www.aulro.com/afvb/members/ian-ashcroft.html or Dave Ashcroft http://www.aulro.com/afvb/members/ashtrans.html I'm sure they'll be happy to give us the heads up!
