Hell, if I had access to Holden and Chevy V8s like you guys, I'd drop in a Yank V8 like a shot.

Will the Chev block bolt up to the Jeep auto box? Then you can run a lockable center diff anyway using the Quadra Drive transfer case behind the very good 545RFE gearbox.

    Hi guys,
just joined this forum great chatter.
    I have recently dropped a 4.6HC rover motor in my 2000 Disco II.My 4.0lt cracked it's block.
It has made an amazing difference to performance and decreased fuel consumption near 15%. Great all round changeover. The best part of course is it just bolts in. Nothing else to do. You can increase output and decrease fuel consumption even more by spending around $1500 on a Haltec piggyback ECU.

As far as I can tell its just crank, con-rods, pistons...so you can re-use lifters if they are good, cam, (timing gear?), rocker assembly, heads, induction including plenum, and exhaust headers, and injectors - and accessories like serpentine belt assembly, air con etc etc.

At over 160KK , you would have to budget for cam, lifters ,timing chain, and perhaps rockers and shafts. Heads would need a service.

    Regards Philip A

I went down the TRS swap over from a 3.9 to the 4.6 nearly a year ago and still cant get the smile off of my face.

cost more than I had planned but I also upgraded my brakes at the same time.

Haltec piggy back conversion next but buying a house first.
