Does the relay on these devices only activate (say a couple of EL thermo fans) when the alarm sounds or can it be set to switch on independently of the alarm going off?

You wouldn't want the alarm sounding every time your thermo fans cut in.

    Hi Traco,

I don't believe it is meant to do the job of turning thermal fans on and off. It is an alarm not a control switch. If you really need an answer though I would suggest sending an e-mail to the address on their web site.

    Picked mine up on Saturday.
    Installed it this morning.

To fit it I cut the back off the little tray and pushed it in from behind. A snug fit that requires no screws/tape and the inside is lined so it slides in nicely.
I never figured out what that useless little tray is for.

The sensor is on a stud that goes into the intake manifold next to the 2,4,6,8 head. It holds a bracket for the fuel rail. I'll see how it goes on there but it was quick, easy and it was raining.

It is just plugged into the cigarette lighter for now but will hard wire it one day.
