    They had a problem with the bonding around the brass insert & were replacing the air bags with no questions asked. However you will have to pay freight from Trucksprings. Get both replaced, because the other one will leak eventually.

    Craig,
    The Coil-Rite kit 4121 does not include lower support brackets. We spoke
    with Firestone and they recommend replacing your lower bolts with bolts with
    dome shaped heads so they do not tear the air bag. The Land Rover discovery
    in North America does not have the same lower bolts.

    When I fitted mine, I also bought the spacers from Polyair (about $40 I think) as I had a 50mm lift. This solved the problem totally

    I wish they spoke English in the USA.

    I was trying to find out if the Coil-Rite kit listed for the 1997 Defender 90 would fit my 1998 Defender 110. An email to Truckspring asking that question elicited this reponse:

    We do not have a kit for a Land Rover 110 cab / chassis. They only list it for the SUV.

    I already knew that they didn't list a 110. That was why I needed to ask the question. BTW, I didn't know Land Rover sold SUVs.

    Perhaps I can get more useful information here.

    Mrs h h, in your PM you mentioned the need to make nylon spacers and I have seen your pics in this thread. Are the spacers needed because it is a Land Rover or because it is a 130 or for some other reason?

    Even though the spring rate might be different on my 110, are the length and the inside diameter of the rear coils the same on a 110 as a 90?

    So does anyone know for sure if the 4121 kit listed for the 90 will fit the 110?

    Coil diameters are different.
    But if you look on the trucksprings site they list diameters and lengths too. You should find something that will work. But you'll need the top plate or make one.

    If you buy the kit here from The Air Bag Man, he supplies the bolts with the kit for Land Rovers, I couldn't get any help from truck springs because of my 4" lift, but The Airbag Man was very helpful, he even gave me the spacers at a discount, it worked out for me $80 extra, but I was happy with that as I didn't have to buggerise around searching for the other bits and pieces for the kit.

    Kit is in and I'm extremely happy with how they work.

    I am still working on the idea of fitting Firestone Coil Rite helpers on the rear of the Defender, but it is not as straightforward as I had hoped. I am prepared to do a bit of stuffing about to save $200.

    Information given here combined with a lot of reading has me a bit closer, but there are still some things I need to know.

    I realise that I could probably get the information I need from The Airbag Man, but as I am hoping to get set up for about $150 instead of the $345 it would cost in Australia, I wouldn't feel right expecting an Australian company to do all the work of explaining what I need and then buying from the USA.

    So far I have learned that the 90 kit is not suitable because the 110 has different diameter coils.

    None of the US sites I have looked at list a kit for the 110. I'm not sure if the Yanks know that the 110 exists.

    If I buy a kit from the US, I know I will need to make up a top plate because the hole in the top mount is quite a bit larger than the allowable maximum. Unless of course they have a kit for another vehicle with exactly the same size coils.

    I have spent ages looking at Mrs hh's images of her plates, but am struggling to work out exactly how they fit. I assume the countersunk bolt heads go against the air bag. What are those four square spacers for? What diameter are those spacers?

    I have found a site that lists the size of various bags.

    My tape measure says that the inside diameter of the coils is about 5" (imperial to match the measurements on the US site) and the length when the vehicle is sitting empty is about 13".

    So what I need to know is does FIR6022 (4.75" x 13") or FIR 6023 (4.75" x 12") look like the right size? In other words is it normal for the air bag to fully occupy the available length or is it normal to leave a bit of a gap so that the air bag does nothing when the vehicle is completely empty?

    My last attempt to get specific information from a USA site wasn't much help. All they did was tell me the Defender 110 cab/chassis wasn't listed. Hence all the questions here.

    Is there anything else that I don't yet realise that I need to know?

    I can't find a link but some companies overseas that sell firestone bags for LRs also sell a different brand to suit 110 Defenders. Not poly airs but I think looked similar as if they were just rebranded . Were more expensive than firestone but cheaper than poly airs.

    I can't find a Defender 110 there. I'll keep looking.
