I thought that only the H1 Hummers had portals? Not too many of them around I would have thought.

Has anyone ever looked at modifying hummer portals to fit the disco, defender, RR axles?
As unimog and volvo 303 are hard to get and expensive, and there are thousands of wrecked hummers around they would have to be heaps cheaper to buy but can they be made to fit?

yep your right it was the H1 but they have been in production for the better part of 20 years. there must be thousands of them in wreckers in the USA
Only 11,818 produced over 15 years (1992-2006) though I suspect the military variant that they were based on may have been produced in higher numbers.

I thought at one stage Pete Antunac from OPW (Offroad Performance Warehouse) in sydney was running Hummer portals onto some axle with a Ford 9" diff. I think this was on his Comp rock buggy behind a 350, not the current Landcruiser truggy.

Yeah Glenn Dobbin engineered them. They both measured them up off my old mans H1. The new truggy has the same setup I thought.
The military Humvee's have been made since 84 and are still in production.
At one stage the portal hubs were $250 Au each.

What about the portals off a Toyota 4wd Coaster Bus? Not sure how common they are but another option.

I know SFA about portals, but stumbled across this monster in Malaysia a couple of weeks ago.
Hope this helps..
The complete hub assembly. As in the reduction gearbox and wheel flange/studs. If that makes sense.
The only bit required was the axle side of the equation and the ball joints. Also enables you to run CTIS (Central Tyre Inflation System)
