    300Tdi head temperature sensor

In the middle of the 300Tdi head there is a blanking plug where the ERR2081 temperature sensor goes for the EGR system where fitted. I've got a VDO mechanical temp gauge to go in and I'd like to retain the factory gauge setup. This seems like an ideal location to tap in.

Is measuing the coolant temp at the head a wise idea?

Does anyone know the size of the thread?

    cheers.

The factory water temp sender is located at the front of the head.
The factory sender location threaded hole is M10 by 1.0 the same as VDO water temp senders.

If you cant make the blank work, you can drill and tap a brass thermostat plug and use sender in the thermo housing.

As Roverrescue sez, or buy a VDO guage and fit it straight up . No drilling or tapping.
