    chipping ecu

I would assume chipping to gain more power would increase heat generated by the engine, does it then mean you should upgrade the intercooler, rod the radiator, as a matter of course? I have 324000 km's up ,could use a bit more power, but would it be an unecessary risk at those k's ? Iam very happy with the td5 , after spending time and money on it, it just needs a bit more power. Is chipping the way to go, or should I be looking at something else? Look forward to your replies, cheers, Bob10

remapping any TD5 is a good thing a upgraded intercooler and silicone hoses is a desirable mod done when mapping and removal of egr and removal of center muffler will help the engine breathe better and performance is maximised but the latter is not necassary

i have only just got back from remapping a TD5 def which had 375k on it and the diffence was unbelievable for the new pride owner

    chipping

G'day, Kelvin, I have an ecu which I have been told has to have an external chip added, msb? mssb? or similar. Would it be a good idea to upgrade to the the ecu that can be internally chipped, and if so , what would the cost be ? I will go to the good oil to see how to modify the egr, I can see how that would be a good thing. Do you recommend externally chipping my older ecu?How does the cost of that compare with replacement? Sorry about all the questions, but if you dont ask you never know. As you can no doubt tell, I have been bitten by the land rover bug....... there is no cure. Cheers, Bob10

The msb units are able to get mapped ,upgrading your ecu to a new NNN model will be about $450,(new)then the cost of the remap $440 so all up it is going to be a costly exercise... advantages of the newer ecu is further upgrades and fine tunning of your remap is easy and you get a new ecu also no further down time with your car and you end up with a spare ecu for your spares box when you do long out off the way trips ,ecu have been known to fail in the middle of know where ask me its happened ,i see you are in brisbane i know MR automotive can chip the older ecu and from memory is around $750 but call them for the price then make your decision from there
yeah been bitten by the land rover bug becomes a life long ordeal
    cheers Kelvin
